Jon Sherer | Chief Operating Officer

Jon came to Ascent Custom Homes in March 2022 as the company’s Chief Operating Officer. In this role, Jon has comprehensive responsibility over the construction company. From hiring and building out teams, process development and implementation, budgeting, new home design, and acquisitions – these are just a few of his all-encompassing duties as COO.

With nearly 20 years of experience in the home construction industry and significant experience with some of the most recognizable builders in the region, Jon has literally built thousands of homes, making him an ideal fit for the job.

As a Cleveland resident, Jon loves the local pro sports teams and anything to do with the Ohio State Buckeyes. He enjoys playing golf, flag football, volleyball, or participating in a softball league, feeding his competitive hunger both inside and outside of the office.

The opportunity to help build and improve a new construction company lured Jon to Ascent Custom Homes, allowing him to create a successful, efficient, and team-oriented environment with a family feel from the ground up.

Dave Linna | Senior Project Manager-New Home Construction

Dave Linna serves Ascent Custom Homes as the company’s Senior Project Manager over new home construction, with responsibilities including materials, pricing, design, vendor and contractor management, job site supervision, keeping projects on time and on budget, quality control, and overseeing all aspects of new construction.

Dave brings over 35 years of custom home building experience to Ascent Custom Homes, including 27 years running his own business, Linna Homes. Many of the most marvelous custom homes in towns like Westlake, Avon, Avon Lake, Elyria, Sheffield, Sheffield Lake, and North Olmsted have been built with Dave’s vision, execution, and leadership.

Born & raised in Lorain, Dave was born as the youngest of four siblings and learned valuable life lessons of toughness, work ethic, and doing the job right the first time.

A proud father of five, Dave and his wife, Erica, reside in Elyria. In his free time, he enjoys working around the house, golfing, fishing, and traveling to Las Vegas, where he and Erica were married.

Heather Graves | Construction Resource Manager

Heather has her hands involved in everything at Ascent Custom Homes and thank goodness for it! With 14 years of experience at the City of Lorain, including 13 years in the building department, Heather has acquired expertise in a broad range of mission-critical categories.

Whether it be her knowledge of local ordinances, codes, requirements for inspections, zoning regulations, contractor requirements, materials, vendors, and more, she also serves as the liaison between the construction field and operations office.

Heather lives with her family in North Ridgeville and enjoys hanging out and traveling with her husband and daughter, Lily. Her favorite pastime is spoiling her three precious pups: Piper, Maggie Mae, and Betty White.

After a great 14-year run in the City of Lorain, Heather was drawn to Ascent Custom Homes to be part of something new where the sky, both personally and company-wide, is the limit.

Josh Hammond | Sales & Marketing Manager

From candidate screening, website development, community outreach, and everything in between, if it has to do with hiring, sales and marketing at Ascent Custom Homes, that’s where you’ll find Josh.

With 15 years of experience as an agency recruiter, 10 years as a small business owner, and as an active Realtor, Josh was drawn to Ascent Custom Homes after witnessing the start-up, entrepreneurial environment up close when he was engaged by the company to help them hire for a critical leadership role.

Once the tables were turned and Ascent Custom Homes began recruiting Josh, the excitement of being able to impact and help build a new company from the ground floor was too rare and unique of an opportunity to pass up.

Josh lives with his wife Angela, their four kids, and three pets in Amherst, Ohio. Spending time together is the family’s favorite activity, especially when mixing in BBQ, football, and friends.

Thomas Marsh | Project Manager–Renovations & Remodeling

Tom Marsh joined Ascent Custom Homes as a Project Manager where he has full oversight and responsibility over a myriad of the company’s rehabilitation and construction projects. His duties include directing workflow and labor management on job sites, managing materials and vendors, tracking and adhering to completion dates, budgeting, and providing input on the scope of work for potential projects.

Tom’s presence at Ascent Custom Homes is a major asset, tapping into his 30-plus years of construction experience, including several successful years running his own business.

Tom lives in Lorain with his life partner, where they enjoy being grandparents to 10 grandchildren. In his free time, Tom enjoys the outdoors, kayaking, golfing, and mentoring the younger generations.

After 30 years in construction, including many as a self-employed professional, Tom was attracted to Ascent Custom Homes for the fresh start it provided and the opportunity to grow with the organization.
